"The House the House Built" Build
Cookie Ashby, Big Bend Habitat for Humanity’s newest homeowner, participated in the dedication of her new home on Saturday, March 23rd, 9:00 am at 1433 Connecticut Street.
The three bedroom/two bath home was built on a lot donated by the City of Tallahassee, and is was privately sponsored by members of The Florida House of Representatives; Northeast Florida Builders; United States Sugar Corporation; Verizon Wireless, Habijax, Florida Habitat for Humanity SSO and others.
The construction was a Blitz Build, taking place in just one week, instead of Big Bend Habitat’s traditional 12-week build schedule. Leon County Schools graciously allowed Big Bend Habitat the use of parking at Riley Elementary School for staging the construction.
Thank you to all of our Sponsors and Volunteers. Making the dream of homeownership a reality for the Ashby family would not be possible without your hard work and generosity.

Habitat's newest homeowner, Bridgette Joseph, participated in the dedication of her new home yesterday with the help of Warrick Dunn Charities. Bridgette's home was a TGFF Build and was sponsored by Bank of America, Capital City Bank, State Farm, Karen Peterson and Bill Peebles. These groups and individuals donated the funds needed to build the home and came out on Saturday's during the build to work hand-in-hand with Bridgette and Habitat construction staff to build her home. We can't thank our sponsors and volunteers enough for the commitment and dedication exhibited through the generosity of time and treasure.
Warrick Dunn Charities awarded Bridgette with down-payment assistance and completely furnished the home--inside and out--for the new homeowner through the Valentine's Day Home for the Holidays award. We thank Warrick Dunn Charities for all their generosity and hard work on the Joseph home.
