ABOUT US
Building Homes, Strengthening Communities, Transforming Futures
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Big Bend Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to creating lasting change by helping families in the Big Bend region achieve the dream of homeownership. As part of the global Habitat for Humanity network, we work to eliminate barriers to affordable housing through volunteer-driven efforts and community partnerships.
Our mission goes beyond building houses; we aim to strengthen communities by fostering stability and self-reliance for families in need. We believe that safe, affordable housing is a catalyst for broader social and economic improvement, and together, we are building brighter futures, one home at a time.
This is who we are.
Always Put Homeowners First
Commit to doing the right thing in every decision and action, especially when no one is watching. Be honest and transparent. If you make a mistake, take responsibility, apologize, and correct it. Building trust with homeowners, volunteers, and the community comes from consistently putting others first every day.
Keep Your Promises
The best way to gain trust is by following through on your commitments. Do what you say you’ll do, when you say you’ll do it. This includes being punctual for appointments, meetings, and responding quickly to requests. Anticipate surprises and never let delays be an excuse. Reliability strengthens our community bonds.
Focus on Solutions, Not Blame
Bring a creative and positive mindset to challenges. Instead of assigning blame, focus on finding solutions and moving forward. Learn from every mistake and improve our processes to avoid repeating them. Every problem is an opportunity for growth and better community building.
Plan Ahead for Success
Think proactively and anticipate future needs to address potential problems before they arise. Planning ahead is always more effective than reacting to issues after they happen. Preventing problems is key to building a smoother path toward success.
Go Above and Beyond
Be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done—and then some. Take initiative to solve problems, even if it falls outside your regular role. It’s that additional effort that transforms good work into great work. Strive to be exceptional, and help families realize their dreams of homeownership with outstanding dedication.
