Community. Resilience. Legacy.
In collaboration with Florida A&M University and Whirlpool Corporation, Big Bend Habitat is proud to celebrate the build of a new home for Lynesia White and her three daughters. This project—located in the Greater Bond community near FAMU—is a hands-on example of what happens when education, industry, and humanity intersect.

Lynesia, a chef and entrepreneur, partnered with us after years of dreaming of a home where each of her daughters could have a space of their own. With over 400 hours of sweat equity, she’s earned more than keys—she’s secured stability, pride, and a fresh start.
This home is part of the BuildBetter with Whirlpool initiative, focused on sustainable, climate-resilient housing. From water-saving fixtures to high-efficiency appliances, it’s proof that affordable can also mean efficient and future-ready.
“We look forward to this special build and are excited to partner with Whirlpool Corporation and FAMU,” said Antoine Wright, Executive Director. “Thanks to the BuildBetter initiative and Whirlpool’s support, Lynesia’s home will provide an opportunity to immediately decrease her family’s utility expenses and carbon footprint.”
💡 Why It Matters
Every project isn’t just a house—it’s a home for hope. Whether rooted in history, surrounded by green space, or built through dynamic partnerships, our homes empower local families to build wealth, anchor their futures, and become active participants in thriving communities.
At Big Bend Habitat for Humanity, we build more than walls—we build opportunities.
