FAITH BUILD

Volunteer opportunity.

Where Faith Communities Come Together.

A Faith Build is a unique partnership where faith communities come together to make a meaningful impact in the Big Bend region. Through collaboration, prayer, volunteer efforts, and financial support, these communities raise money and contribute labor to build a Habitat for Humanity home for a deserving local family. Big Bend Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing by constructing safe, affordable homes for hardworking families who cannot qualify for traditional mortgages.

Help our faith communities!

How Faith Communities Contribute.

Faith communities play a critical role in the success of a Faith Build. Their involvement goes beyond financial contributions—they help shape the lives of families in need while strengthening their own congregations.

  • Prayer Support: We deeply appreciate the power of prayer throughout the building process. Every aspect of a Habitat build is supported and guided by faith and prayer.

  • Volunteer Labor: Congregations are invited to join in hands-on construction, and no previous building experience is necessary. Our Volunteer Coordinator manages all logistics, ensuring volunteers have everything they need for a successful build day.

  • Funding: Faith-based organizations unite to raise money to cover the costs of building a home for a local family, making a profound difference in their lives.

How Faith Communities Benefit.

Participating in a Faith Build offers numerous benefits for faith communities, providing an opportunity to put faith into action, fostering deeper connections, and revitalizing congregational involvement.

  • A Call to Serve: A Faith Build invites congregations to follow the example of the apostles by serving others in tangible, impactful ways. It energizes members to engage beyond the church walls, bringing revitalization to the faith community.

  • Engaging Small Groups: A Faith Build is an excellent way to involve small groups within your congregation, including young professionals, college and career groups, and others who are seeking ways to make a difference in the community.

  • Collaboration in Action: A Faith Build offers a concrete way to turn faith into action, bringing members together in a unified effort to serve those in need.

  • Community Building: Working together on a Faith Build fosters a sense of community, not only within the congregation but also with other faith-based organizations involved in the project.

  • Celebration and Dedication: The culmination of a Faith Build is the home dedication—a joyful event where the entire faith community gathers to celebrate the completion of the home, pray for the new homeowner, and present them with a Bible and the keys to their new home.

Who Are We Building For?

Each family that partners with Habitat for Humanity is a hardworking, local family striving for a brighter future. These partner families contribute 300 hours of “sweat equity” by working on their home or other Habitat projects, attend homeownership education classes, and ultimately purchase their new home with a 0% interest mortgage. Habitat for Humanity is not a handout—it’s a hand up, providing families with the tools and support they need to thrive in their new, affordable homes.

Take the Next Step.

Join Big Bend Habitat for Humanity’s Faith Build and make a lasting difference in the lives of a local family. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Pray: Support the project with your prayers, asking for guidance, strength, and blessings for all involved.
  • Volunteer: Whether you have construction experience or not, your help is needed to build safe and affordable homes.
  • Donate: Help us reach our fundraising goal of $69,000 to ensure we can continue making homeownership a reality for local families in need.

By participating in a Faith Build, your faith community can leave a lasting legacy, creating homes, hope, and a future for those in need. Together, we can build more than just houses—we can build stronger, more connected communities.
